Victory Independent Baptist Church just celebrated its thirty-fifth anniversary.  It was also the anniversary of Pastor H. Preston Parker, the founding pastor.   1 Corinthians 4:1 declares that it is required of a steward that a man be found faithful.  Pastor Parker has certainly been that.  He has also been a leader. 

A good Bible leader preaches the whole council of God (Acts 20:17 - 28).  There are some issues that give preachers and Bible teachers butterflies when they have to deal with them.  But a faithful Bible teacher will deal with what the Bible says.

A good Bible teacher cares for the folks put under his charge. Philippians 2:20 tells of Timothy who would natuarally care for your state.  Those men are rare.  To find a man in the ministry that has a natural concern for those who are placed within his reach as a man of God.

A good Bible teacher will actually have followers.  No one actually enters the ministry so they can be leaders of others.  They enter the ministry as an answer to the call of God who said, "Follow me and I will make you to become fishers of men."   The Bible tells us that one of the qualifications of a pastor is he must be apt to teach (1 Timothy 3:2).   

Looking into the Bible we see that Moses had his Joshua.  We see that David had his mighty men.  Several of those were giant killers just as David was.  He inspired men to acts of greatness.  He was a leader.  Pastor Parker has twenty-seven men in the ministry, as a result of his ministry.  There are many who are teaching Sunday School.  Others are deacons or simply faithful members, the back bone of any local church.  Leadership, faithfulness, and a knowledge of the Bible with the ability and the desire to pass it on; that is what Victory Baptist has in its pastor.
