                         The "Be" In 2 Timothy

Were you aware that there is a "Be" in 2 Timothy?  There are many "Be"s in 2 Timothy as a matter of fact.  Let's look at a few of these to begin with and maybe you can go and find the rest for your self.

There is the encouragement to "be" unashamed of the testimony of Jesus Christ.  As a Christian we are to be very careful to stand for our Lord Jesus Christ.  This is seen in 2 Timothy 1:8.

He also wants us to "be" partakers of afflictions of the gospel (:8).   Most of us would not be looking forward to that.

Then Paul encourages us to "be" strong in the grace that we have from Jesus Christ. (2:1)  Grace is such a marvelous entity.  It grants our salvation, it leads us in giving, it governs our relationships with each other; and there is more.

There are those who are to receive what is taught so they may "be" able to teach others also(:2).  This means we should "be" available for teaching, for learning, and for passing it on.

A Christian to be useful is also to "be" ware of those who would cause them harm along with the ministry (4:15).  We need to understand that our enemies will do whatever they can to damage our testimony and / or our work for the Lord.  Alaxander did Paul much harm.

There are a total of 31 "be's" in this epistle.  Most of them do not have the word "be" in front of them, but they are there.

1:6  be in remembrance

1:13  be zealous

1:14 be firm

2:3  be a good soldier

2:5  be lawful

These are just a few.  Find the rest if you can.
